Beaded jewelry trends This Season

Beaded jewelry trends this spring and summer have brought in some fresh changes. Beads are amongst the most popular items used for inexpensive jewellery. Beaded jewelry trends have been largely with respect to the colours, the type of beads that are being used and the size of these beads. Beads are quite fashionable and the latest fashion trends seem to be inclined to use them even more prominently in jewellery items especially for women.

One of the trends to be seen is the emergence of big beads. These big beads could be seen both in necklaces as well as in bangles and bracelets. The beads are in all colours, and made of all kinds of materials including plastic, glass, pearls and wood. One fashion caveat though is to avoid bigger beads when you have smaller wrists or smaller neck because the latter would be dominated by the beads, looking out of place.

African beads were quite popular for a while and so were seed beads. Heavy ethnic influences were seen in the way beads were worn. However, in recent times international flavours and greater uniformity in the use of beads as a fashionable item have been seen. However, a lot of people still seem to crave for handmade jewellery where the local artisans prefer using native beads to give shape to their imagination and creativity. Beaded jewelry trends also include the use of beads in pendants, earrings, necklaces and even armbands. Smaller lighter bracelets which are subtly beautiful are also immensely popular especially amongst those who don’t like demonstrative jewellery.

There have been some beaded jewelry trends as far as colours are concerned too. The most popular colours for beaded jewellery include golden glow, purple orchids, honeysuckle, chocolate colour, woodbine, living coral colour and aquamarine shades. Turquoise, oyster gray and rose dust are also very much in vogue. One of the things that jewellery is drifting towards is the use of lighter shades like silver smoke, sandy and lilac shades along with the usually bright colours that are often picked for precious stones. Earthy rustic colours, with an ethnic look about them have always been quite popular as far as bead jewellery is concerned. But increasingly beads are being used in combination with metal for example, in Pandora charm bracelets etc. which is mixing and matching the colours and combining the brilliance of various elements. Freshwater pearls and black bead jewellery are also quite popular these days. Photos courtesy of www.myjewelrytrends.com
